Type File Geodatabase Feature Class
The Geospatial Services Division delineates the Submerged Lands Act Boundary, Revenue Sharing Limits from the SLA Coast Line, and various administrative boundaries on the OCS. Other offshore/maritime boundary data are created from original source documents and intersected with the offshore marine cadastre leasing blocks.
This dataset includes boundaries generated and maintained by the GSD (Submerged Lands Act Boundary, Limit of “8(g) Zone” Boundary, Oil and Gas Planning Area Boundary, Continental Shelf Boundary, Limit of Protraction, and State Lateral Boundary) in addition to boundaries generated and maintained by other federal agencies (Exclusive Economic Zone Limit, International Boundary, Marine/Wildlife Sanctuary, Maritime Boundary, and Parks/Monuments). All boundary line segments across all BOEM regions with the same boundary name have been merged to a display a single boundary line. Offshore boundaries are depicted on Official Protraction Diagrams (OPDs), Supplemental Official Block Diagrams (SOBDs), and other BOEM cadastral maps. The maps can be located by going to Offshore Marine Cadastre Navigator and select the Offshore Boundary Lines (BOEM) to launch the pop-up window for viewing the boundary’s type and name.

This data was created in the applicable NAD83 UTM Projection and re-projected to WGS84 Geographic. Because GIS projection and topology functions can change or generalize coordinates, these GIS files are NOT an OFFICIAL record for the exact boundaries. These files are to be used for Cartographic purposes only. This data should not be used to calculate area.

National Dataset covering CONUS, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories and Possessions.

This national dataset was created using data from TIMS and BDS. The data generated from TIMS was imported from an oracle database into a geodatabase using the TIMS to BDS ETL. The data is stored in the applicable NAD83 (Atlantic, Alaska, Gulf of Mexico and Pacific Coast, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands) and WGS84 (Pacific Territories) and appended to the WGS84 Geographic national geodatabase to display as the Offshore Boundary Lines (BOEM) national dataset. This dataset is not a complete coverage of all BOEM's offshore boundary lines. Alaska, Gulf of Mexico, Hawaii and U.S. Territories has incomplete data. This April 28, 2023, dataset is used for viewing only in the OMC Navigator application and is not currently available for download. Gulf of Mexico NAD27 data is not apart of this dataset. Hawaii boundaries were created using Esri ArcGIS COTS software.

The day, month, and year the Official Protraction Diagram or Leasing Map that the boundary lies within is signed by the Federal Government and approved for distribution.
BOEM Boundary Delineation System
Field in a feature class does not originate with any metadata authority.
This is a code used to identify the official name of a boundary.
BOEM Boundary Delineation System
Field in a feature class does not originate with any metadata authority.
The linear distance, measured seaward from the baseline, used to define the projected offshore boundary point.
BOEM Boundary Delineation System
Field in a feature class does not originate with any metadata authority.
The identifier of the Official Protraction Diagram or Leasing Map that the offshore boundary falls within.
BOEM Boundary Delineation System

Field in a feature class does not originate with any metadata authority.
The identifier of the subdivision of an Official Protraction Diagram or Leasing Map that the offshore boundary falls within.
BOEM Boundary Delineation System
Field in a feature class does not originate with any metadata authority.
An alpha-numeric foreign key for identifying the baseline point that is contributing to the projected boundary segment. The BLREFPTA_ID for each boundary segment will match the BSLN_ID (Primary Key) of the contributing baseline point.
BOEM Boundary Delineation System
Field in a feature class does not originate with any metadata authority.
An alpha-numeric foreign key for identifying the baseline point that is contributing to the ending point of the projected boundary segment (if the contributing baseline point is different than the starting baseline point). The BLREFPTB_ID for each boundary segment will match the BSLN_ID (Primary Key) of the contributing baseline point.
BOEM Boundary Delineation System
Field in a feature class does not originate with any metadata authority.
The username of the database editor who initially created the data record.
BOEM Boundary Delineation System
Field in a feature class does not originate with any metadata authority.
The day, month, and year the data record was first created in the database.
BOEM Boundary Delineation System
